79th infantry division cross of Lorraine at Mantes la Jolie, France

The Seine River bridgehead at Mantes-la-Jolie, Yvelines department in the Île-de-France region in north-central France. 19th August 1944. Having crossed the river, they are now in the town of Limay, where the US officer, Lieutenant Bacchus Stockridge of 'A' Coy, 314th Inf. Regt., 79th Inf. Div. is giving a drink of water to the wounded German Kradmelder (Motorcyclist) in the foreground is Sergeant Harril who apparently shot him. (Colorised by Jean Marie from France)
